In our Year 7 - 9 Pastoral Care Teleconferences we have been looking at social wellbeing, social skills and S.P.I.T.

S.P.I.T. stands for Smile, Praise (Encourage), Invite and Talk. The PC Teachers and I presented on this, highlighting how each can be done in a way that helps people to connect and make new friendships.

This term the plan is to look at other aspects of our wellbeing in our Pastoral Care Teleconferences. In Week 2 we will be encouraging all secondary students to complete the “Youth Radar” questionnaire through Google Forms. Youth Radar is an emotional health screening tool which we have permission to use. We have been using it for many years now and have found it valuable in identifying students who would benefit from some extra emotional support. More information about Youth Radar has been emailed home to parents/guardians.

In Week 10 of last term we had our first “All-In” Assembly for 2025, through Google Meet. Sharon and I MC’d the assembly and had a lot of fun doing so. In Week 5 of this term we will have our second “All-In” Assembly. We plan to do these Assemblies once a term. They are great for building our DE community and we hope that the turn out continues to be as good as it has been. The next “All-In” Assembly is scheduled for 2pm on Monday 26/05/2025.
