It has been a pleasure for Sharon (Mrs Morton) and I (Mr Wiseman) to get the opportunity to meet many of our DE students and their families in person recently. It was truly special to be involved in both the Whiteman Park Excursion and the Year 9/10 Camp.

Duke of Edinburgh

Due to the flexibility of the Duke of Ed Award we have continued to see DE students register; students can register anytime. Some of the students participating are working through it quickly and may complete it this year. Others are chipping away at it by focusing on one activity at a time and may complete it over two or three years. Both are celebrated, and both are deserving of this internationally recognised award. One of the school options for the Adventurous Journey component is a hiking expedition currently scheduled for Term 4, Week 1 2025 in Dwellingup. I have already had some students express their excitement for this camp.

Minecraft Club

This term we have another build competition for those that enjoy playing Minecraft: a Chicken Farm competition! All students are welcome to participate and submit an entry into this competition even if they are unable to attend our Minecraft Club Teleconference from 2:30pm - 3:30pm on Fridays.

The Pushup Challenge

Year 12 Student Leader Tegan Hughes has been accepted as a Student Ambassador with

The Pushup Challenge. This initiative is from 4th-26th June 2025 and is all about encouraging better mental health and wellbeing through connection, physical activity and education. Look out for more information from Tegan shortly.

Youth Radar

140 Secondary Students in DE completed the Youth Radar Questionnaire. The questions fit into the following categories: school connectedness, family relations, academic success, sporting interest, peer acceptance, and acceptance of appearance. The results gave Sharon and I an indication of the students’ emotional wellbeing. For students whose results were considered lower than expected in one or more of these categories, Mrs Morton or I will reach out to check in at some point this term.
