DE Adventurous Journey

In Week 1 of Term 4, ten DE students, two parents and three teachers (including myself) camped at Lane Poole Reserve, Dwellingup. We embarked on multiple hikes in the area, completing six hours of purposeful effort each day, for two days, to complete the Duke of Edinburgh requirements for a Bronze Level Adventurous Journey. The camp was three days, two nights and it was epic!

The goal for the Adventurous Journey is to build resilience. Students were challenged to push themselves and I am so proud of the group and what they were able to achieve. Personally, I love camping, and sleeping in just my swag, but that's not for everyone. Some of the students were really out of their comfort zone. An unfamiliar environment, with people they don’t know very well, navigating the terrain and being self sufficient. They had to organise, prepare and cook their own meals. They did so well, and we had so much fun.
