Wet weather is upon us, (YAY) and it's not yet officially Winter. Winter is my favourite time of the year; I enjoy our fire going, keeping our home warm, I enjoy snuggling on a couch with my dog reading a book or googling something, I enjoy the hearty meals we make and enjoy. I am blessed, but it does make me ponder on those who may not have shelter or food. You will see a poster in this Newsletter about Foodbank, and how we are hoping to gather donations of food to pass on to help people in our community.
What is Foodbank, I hear you ask? Great question. This insert of information is from their website, which you can have a look at here.
Foodbank WA was established in 1994 by an initiative backed by donations from the Lotteries Commission of Western Australia and Rio Tinto. In addition to a purpose-built facility at Perth Airport, Foodbank WA operates distribution centres in Albany, Bunbury, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Mandurah.
We believe everyone should have access to healthy food. There are Western Australians going without every day, and we are working hard to change that. We provide food and groceries to those who struggle to afford them. We also deliver nutrition education to promote healthy eating and advocate on behalf of people that experience food stress. Our purpose is to Feed. Educate. Advocate. We are here to support Western Australians in times of need. We do this through:
Providing 9.2 million meals last financial year to those who were doing it tough
Distributing food and groceries through 352 frontline charities
Providing breakfast and fruit to over 500 schools feeding almost 25,000 children weekly
Delivering nutrition education through 7,092 attendances to children, adults, parents and people with disability
Raising awareness on the reality and societal issues relating to food insecurity
We work with farmers, wholesalers, manufactures and retailers who donate and redirect surplus products to us. This also plays a vital role in tackling food waste and positively contributes to climate change by reducing CO2 emissions arising from landfill. To meet demand, we will also purchase essential food staples to ensure we have enough stock available.

Thank you in advance for any contributions you bring in. There will be a box in Student Services for the donations to go into.
God bless you all.
