Having positive memories that we can look back on is invaluable for our well-being. When we haven't seen a good friend for a while and unexpectedly bump into them, there's a sudden joy that overcomes us, making us unable to resist smiling. When we reflect on our time at school, our perception of whether it was good or bad is often based on the memories we have. So, are those memories mostly positive or negative? As educators, we strive to create as many positive memories as possible for our students. Excursions, incursions, camps, lunch activities, and before-and-after-school clubs all contribute to providing students with positive memories to cherish. These experiences help students feel more connected with their peers, fostering a sense of belonging and ultimately improving their engagement with school.

In my own family, I place great value on creating memories because it strengthens our bond. Recently, we have been blessed with amazing weather here in Albany. Recently, as the weekend forecast looked promising, I discussed the idea of going camping again with my wife. Despite feeling a bit under the weather, she didn't want that to hinder us from seizing the opportunity. After work on Friday, we embarked on a two-hour drive to an incredible spot. The weekend surpassed our expectations - I even caught the fish of my life. We returned home before lunch on Sunday, allowing us time to clean up before heading to Middleton Beach to witness the baptism of some dear friends.

When my children feel connected to me as their father, they are more likely to approach me when they need to talk. If I'm always reprimanding them without enjoying their company, they won't feel inclined to share their thoughts with me. Balancing parenthood with life's demands can indeed be challenging.

John 10:10 (KJV): "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

Jesus desires for us to experience an abundant life - a life filled to the brim. My prayer is that we would seize every opportunity to create positive memories. Additionally, I pray for our students, that they may make the most of the chances they receive to connect with others and engage in various activities that are on offer.
