One of the areas that I get to be involved in is the Duke of Edinburgh. From the age of 14 students can participate in Duke of Ed and work towards the Award in the Bronze level. There is also a Silver and Gold level. Last year in our DE Presentations Ceremony we awarded Year 12 student Dawn Millgan with the Gold Level Award. We also awarded Year 9 DE students Caitlyn McAliece and Isabella Melbin with Bronze Level Awards. I had the privilege of leading a hike with them both and a group of our on campus Duke of Ed participants, in the Walpole area on the Bibbulmun track.
ACC Southlands is a registered Award Centre. We would like to encourage and support any students willing to work towards it. The Award is achievable for any student and is tailored to the individual.

Participants are required to use an online logbook to log an average of 1 hr per week for a minimum of 3 months in 3 different activities, and complete an Adventurous Journey. All extra curricular activities, for example sport, dance, music, cadets, serving at church, etc., can go towards the Duke of Ed Award.
Registration for the Bronze Level is $171 for 2025. This can be paid directly to Duke of Ed when registering online or by Direct Debit at reception. Students may be eligible for funding assistance. Please let us know if financial assistance is required.
