Rayna Cott was selected to compete with the WA State Team at the 2025 National Karate Championships in Adelaide, held on July 11th - 13th last year. This is a huge honour and achievement in and of itself, and this year, Rayna is hoping to go to Tasmania in July.
Rayna gave an outstanding performance in her Kata (Skills) Event, bringing home a bronze medal for herself and our state. Rayna also had three incredible fights in her Kumite (Fighting) Event reaching the bronze medal round, but lost it to last year's Under 10s winner. Winning a bronze medal is a fantastic result - well done, Rayna!
The tournament was an amazing experience full of meeting new friends, good spirit, integrity and empathy. Rayna returned home to compete in the International Shotokahn Tournament, where people from all around the world come to compete. Rayna was lucky enough to win both her divisions, with this being her first international tournament!
Rayna has been doing karate since she was four years old, and has developed a strong passion for sports karate. One day, she hopes to compete at Worlds.
