We hope you all enjoyed a restful Christmas break and are feeling energised as we step into the exciting journey of 2025. This is a time for new beginnings: students moving up to new grades and teachers introducing fresh and inspiring learning opportunities.
A warm welcome to the new students and families joining our ACC community. We are thrilled to have you with us, coming from all corners of Western Australia. Our entire school community is excited to get to know you and ensure you feel right at home.
Looking ahead, 2025 is filled with endless possibilities. We are committed to making this year one of growth, exploration, and success for each and every student.
The year kicked off with a bang, marked by the exciting opening of our new building. I was incredibly impressed by the primary school students, who were so polite and considerate during the very first hour of school. Among the crowd were eight Kindergarten children, experiencing their very first hour of school ever.
A highlight of the morning was watching Lucca, from Pre Primary, cut the ribbon alongside Erin, one of our Year 12 students—such a sweet moment! It was also a joy to see some former Year 12 students, who I had the privilege of teaching when they were in Year 4. It’s always heartwarming to reconnect and see how far they’ve come.
Year 6
Our Year 6 shirts have arrived! The design was voted for by the students last year. Much debate happened before consensus was reached. The tree design was chosen to reflect our country location and the teal blue for our connection to the sea. This shirt can be worn on Tuesday and Thursdays.

First Day of School
It was a big day for our Kindy and Pre Primary students, please enjoy these cute pictures.
Surf Life Saving
This year we have included Year 5 students into our Surf Life Saving program. This is a term program designed to build resilience. Starting a year earlier will set up our students even better to build on their beach skills and their resilience skills in Year 6.
Aim:
At ACC, we want to provide our children with opportunities that build students socially, emotionally and spiritually and to see our students serving God and others. We want them to live a life that is full of everything that is good; love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness and faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. We aim to do this by focusing on our cultural goals for outdoor ed.
Cultural Goals:
1. Establish a culture of HUNGRY - striving and thankfulness, not apathetic or lazy.
2. Establish a culture of HUMILITY - serving and encouragement, not arrogant or self-centered.
3. Establish a culture of HEALED - repentance and faith in the finished work of Christ.
Rules:
1. We don’t complain, and we try our best.
2. We build up and don’t tear down.
3. We stuff up, we own up and make it right.
This has proven to be an amazing program through the year and with summer being particularly spectacular this year I am sure great memories will be made.
In the Classroom
Learning has started across the school. ACER testing starts next week therefor it is important that students’s Year 3 and up bring their charged device to school everyday. These tests are important for the classroom teacher to ascertain a child’s academic achievement at the year level. This data also informs our Learning Support team of where additional assistance is needed.
Cold writing tasks are happening as I write this newsletter. We use the data collected form each childs writing to set goals for the students. These we call ‘Grow’ goals.
In The Playground
The behaviour in the playground has been exciting but well behaved. We have made many new friends. We have a few changes in play areas, which the students have adapted to well. I have spoken to most classes about including new students and showing kindness. The front of the new building has provided an area for hand ball and skipping which has been a blessing.
