Market Day Spotlight
Throughout Term 3 Mr Langford Brown and our Year 7 students have been learning about Economics and Business, with a particular focus on developing their own products and preparing for Market Day. As part of this process, students used surveys to gather information about what their customers might want, worked collaboratively in groups, negotiated and compromised over different ideas, and considered how best to create, market and display their products in order to make their business as successful as possible.
Market Day was held on Friday September 18th during lunch, and was a fantastic way to bring all of this learning together. The students were excited to see their ideas come to life and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to sell their sweet and savoury creations to the school community. We hope some of this excitement can be seen in the photos accompanying this article.
A big thank you to all the parents and carers for your support in helping students prepare for the day and for supporting the presentation of their food stalls. After tallying the final results, our Year 7 students raised an impressive $117 for Operation Christmas Child, as 20% of their profits were donated to this charity.
Market Day was a very exciting first business venture for our Year 7 students and a great opportunity for them to experience some of the rewards and challenges involved in being an entrepreneur.
