I can’t believe how fast Term 1 is proceeding. We are now focused on Easter in the Primary School. The school is learning the song This is the Story of the Cross by Rend Collective, with actions. They will sing this at the Faith Week Assembly at Living Water Church on Monday the 25th of March. This service will start our week-long reflection on the most important week in the Christian calendar. Children in our school have a varying familiarity with the Easter story but we understand our students and we keep it as simple as we can. The death and resurrection of Jesus has a message of hope for the world and is an invitation for a deeper relationship with God. We learn this message through lovely easter activities across the primary school.

Enjoy these photos showcasing the joy and learning experienced by primary school children through the implementation of the Loose Parts Play project at ACC. Our commitment to providing a dynamic and open-ended play environment is captured in these images, illustrating the positive impact of the grant from A.I.S.W.A and the imagination of the educators involved.
The project involved the purchase of a large outdoor storage container, strategically filled with an array of loose parts. Additionally, various boxes of loose parts were created, designed for use both indoors and outdoors. These thoughtfully curated loose parts have become a source of inspiration and exploration for our students.
During recess times, the verandah comes alive with laughter and creativity as students engage with the loose parts, fostering imaginative play and collaborative learning. The hands-on experience provided by these materials enhances problem-solving skills, encourages teamwork, and stimulates curiosity, contributing to a well-rounded educational experience for our primary school children.
The Kindergarten and Pre Primary students have benefitted from the creative spirit of a group of Year 8 students who have been making tuff tray provocations on a Tuesday morning. We love when we have this sort of collaboration across the school. Well done girls.

In the Playground
While basketball is still the trend at break times, the playground, boats and trees near the bottom of the grounds have become the favourite places for many. In the near future we are adding two mud kitchens to this area for fantasy and creative play. Mud kitchens are one of the best resources for all ages to play with outside.
In the mud kitchens, the children can use real life utensils to experiment with early Mathematics skills such as measuring and counting. They use their fine motor skills, pouring, stirring, sieving and rolling.
We are always keen for any donations of kitchen utensils and implements such as pots and pans to enhance the children’s experience.
The chaplain clubs run by Mrs Jansz have been popular during lunchtime on Monday and Wednesday. The Christian Club has been well attended and is at the moment following a CRU West resource. It is a great eight week series on what a New Identity as a child of God is like. These studies help students know what it means to follow Jesus.
The colouring club on a Wednesday provides a quiet place to spend lunchtimes with Mrs Jansz. Finger knitting in groups is happening on the verandah area, along with the very popular loose parts play.
Tuckshop
Every morning recess the Year 6 students, as part of their leadership duties, sell a small range of snacks. The choices are popcorn and chips or quelch icy poles. All products sell for $1.00. The Year 6 students use their marketing techniques and accounting skills in a real life situation. The money raised is used for The Attribute Award prize box. The customers practise the transactional language needed for everyday shopping experiences. Please support this initiative but only send coins or $5.00 notes to simplify the accounting process.

Citizen Science and Clean Up Australia Day
On Thursday the 7th of March the Year 4 and 5 will walk to Griffiths St beach for a 9:30am start meeting Sam Culbertson, Education coordinator WA, from the Keep Australia Beautiful Council to participate in a registered Clean Up Australia Day event.
Year 6 Shirts
The graduation shirts have arrived for our Year 6 class. This is the first year we have trialled a special graduation shirt and so far the feedback has been very positive. The design of the shirts pay respect to indigenous culture as well as respecting our ACC style. The Year 6 students are very proud of their new look.
Surf Life Saving Class
I don’t know what you were doing on the one day it got above 40 degrees in Albany but the Year 6 students were in the water at our amazing Middleton Beach as part of their Outdoor Ed Surf Life Saving class.
