I trust that the ACC families had a bit of a break and a change in routine for the spring holidays. I spent some time in retail therapy and then balanced this out with the many jobs around the farm that come with spring, crutching lambs and burning off in readiness for summer.
Having talked with a lot of our families about holiday activities, often with the business of life, the whole family rarely gets to go away on vacation together. Sometimes a family will go somewhere exciting but mostly, especially in good weather the families have a slow down of routine and take advantage of the wonderful natural surroundings that is Albany. When your children try the “everyone else is going to …..” I can assure you that isn’t the case. However, having a change in pace and a break from the high cognitive and social pressure that is school is very beneficial.
Term 4 is as always a busy time, full of events and activities, sometimes this requires great self control, which is our value of the fortnight in the primary. Our bible verse for Self- Control is ;
For the spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline - 2 Timothy 1:7
I pray we all practice this value so we too can be bold in the spirit of God as we lead up to the Christmas season.

Sizzle for Success: Support Our Students and Connect with the ACC Community!
Each week, our sausage sizzle raises important funds to support a variety of student activities, as determined by the Parents and Friends Association. In the past, we’ve successfully raised money for the Year 7 Canberra Camp, with the help of Year 7 parents, reducing the camp cost by $150 per student.
This term, we are focusing our efforts on supporting the Year 5 and Year 6 students. Year 6 will soon be celebrating their graduation lunch, and Year 5 students will have the opportunity to pre-order special Year 6 graduation shirts for 2025, with orders being taken this term.
If we can fill the sausage sizzle roster with Year 5 and 6 parents, we can direct the funds raised toward the graduation lunch and the Year 6 shirts. With almost $150 raised every week, just by hosting a casual BBQ, this is a wonderful way to contribute to the school community.
We need your help! If you're able to volunteer, please sign up to support these fantastic initiatives and make a difference for our students.

TeamTeach
A few of our staff members attended a Team Teach professional development course over two days last week. This was to develop our skills in supporting positive behaviour, de-escalation and management of behaviours of concern. Teachers' relationship with the students is the most important tool we have in teaching behaviour and assisting students experiencing dysregulation. There are many small things teachers do during lessons to create environments that are conducive to all students learning and to avoid behavioural escalation. However, sometimes there will be a situation where restrictive practice is necessary to keep children and staff safe. In this instance, we consider what is reasonable, proportionate to the behaviour and absolutely necessary. At ACC we are committed to continually improving practices and training of our staff.

Year 3 Tastes of the Globe: Exploring Countries and Their Cuisines
Mrs Jensen’s year 3 class culminated their geography research project by presenting to an audience of appreciative family and staff. The experience was heightened by food from the country the student’s explored.
The effort and engagement by the Year 3 class were very impressive and showcased the level of skills and knowledge taught at ACC. A big thank you for the effort that not only Mrs Jensen has shown but the amazing food that the families provided for the event.
I love this time of the year when we can celebrate how far the students have come in their learning and the Year 3 class is a fine example of this.
