We are halfway through an exciting term.
Across the primary, we have introduced the value of trust. This is our final value from our C.H.R.I.S.T approach.
I discussed the importance of trust in friendships and how we can build trust by keeping our promises, helping when our friends ask and being there when we say we will. This value has prompted many great discussions across the school.
Our bible verse for Trust is ;
“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you” Psalm 9:10
I pray we all practise this value so we too can be bold in the spirit of God as we lead up to the Christmas season.

Behaviour
At this time of year, children across the primary school are involved in many events, both in school and out. These activities can make them particularly tired—not just from the duration of the events but also because the excitement can be fatiguing. If your child is feeling tired, an early bedtime, limiting screen time, and allowing a restful day at home can be very beneficial.
Sometimes, at school, this fatigue can lead to children being less considerate of those around them or less mindful of their actions. We follow a fair Student Code of Conduct, and all children are held accountable for their behavior. Along with quick consequences (e.g., thumbs down) and time-outs (e.g., detentions), we have maintained a positive learning and playing culture that we are proud of.
We ask for your support in reinforcing our school culture by helping your child accept the consequences of their actions. This not only helps maintain a respectful environment but also equips children with important life skills. School is practice for life in the broader community, and at ACC, we aim to teach your child responsibility for their actions in a kind and supportive way. We appreciate the amazing work parents, caregivers, teachers and support workers do in preparing each of our students at ACC.

Jumps and Throws
Kangaroos versus Magpies — the epic battle continued as the students jumped, threw, and ran for their team at the 2024 Athletics Carnival. Spirits were high on the 24th of October at Collingwood Oval for the Jumps and Throws, plus the longer distance races. It was great to see so many of our parent community cheering students on at both the school and Collingwood Oval. We appreciated the Year 10 students who helped out for the day, measuring and recording results. All received Initiative awards for their efforts.

Legacy Tree Planting
The Year 6 students have been learning about legacy and what they would like to leave in their wake for the younger students. In the Leadership program, they have written TEDx-style talks about what they have learned throughout their 8 years in primary school. Topics have ranged from how to avoid distractions to moving countries. I am very impressed with the thought that has gone into these talks and the maturity the class has developed.
One of the legacy activities was planting trees on the grounds for future generations, as well as for our Year 6, Kindergarten, and Primary students to look back on in years to come. They will be able to see the growth of the trees and reflect on their own personal growth.
Year 6 shirt Reminder
Year 5 students are invited to order a commemorative graduation t-shirt. Sizing shirts are now in the front office for sizing. We will finalise the order next week.
