Reflection
As we reach the halfway point of Term 2, it’s been encouraging to see many students making steady progress. For those who have managed to stay on track and keep up with their workload - well done! Your perseverance, and the consistent support from home supervisors, is truly appreciated.
If your child has faced challenges this semester, now is a good time to pause and reflect on their journey. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your teacher for guidance and practical tips on how to best support your child moving forward. And remember - celebrating small victories each day is just as important as achieving big milestones.
Off-Screen Time
We strongly encourage students to balance screen time with meaningful off-screen activities. Families might like to try baking, going for a walk or hike, playing board or card games, or enjoying face-to-face social catch-ups with friends. These moments build important life skills and support student wellbeing.
For those unable to meet in person or who enjoy additional digital connection time, ACC Connect offers a variety of virtual social opportunities - but nothing beats a bit of fresh air and real-life interaction when possible!
Coming Up - Sneak Peak
We hope to share photos from our recent Informal Primary Excursion, held at Ballajura Intergenerational Playspace in the next Newsletter.
A DE Quiz Night is in the works!
To finish the term, we will be holding a whole-school DE Excursion that promises to be a lot of fun.
Keep an eye out for details in the Takamuna and Parent and Guardian Noticeboards.
Showcasing our Year Two Student Learning
From Farm to Fork – Discovering the Journey of Our Favourite Foods
This term, our Year 2 students have been exploring the fascinating technology processes that bring our favourite foods from the farm to the shops — ready for us to buy, eat, and enjoy!
Our learning was sparked by the engaging storybook “How Did That Get In My Lunchbox? – The Story of Food” by Chris Butterworth. It introduced us to the incredible journeys everyday foods take before reaching our plates.
Can you guess some of the students’ favourite foods? Popular picks included chocolate, cream, watermelons, bacon and eggs, donuts, and beef soup. Each one has its own unique story — from paddocks and pastures to factories and food aisles!
What is YOUR favourite food? And what journey does it take, from start to stomach?
