Dear Families of our Primary School students,

This fortnight, we are focusing on the important value of self-control across the school – with a special emphasis on concentration.

At our Monday morning assembly, I introduced self-control as our value of the fortnight and spoke with students about how we can use it to help us focus during lessons. We also discussed how it's easy to get distracted or put things off – a challenge we all face from time to time, myself included! Some tips were- sit up, eyes and ears on the speaker, clear your desk, take a brain break, and tell yourself to concentrate.

Our CHRIST Value Award recipients for this month are….

Courage - Luca

Respect - Raiden, Ben, India, Mary, Ashton, Georgia, Bentley, Ryker, Brianna, Breanna, Mila, William H, Jordan, Mason, Luca

Initiative - Mila, Mia, Maddison, Aleah, Raiden, Milly, Ellena, Bentley, LJ, Mary, Ryker

Self Control - Mila, Mason, Sarah

Trust - Imogen, Elijah B, Amelie, Stephen

As I look at the activities happening across the Primary School I reflect on the fact that God is the ultimate creator — the one who imagined galaxies, painted sunsets, and breathed life into dust. We were made in His image (Genesis 1:27), not just to exist, but to co-create — to build, write, sing, design, and dream alongside Him. When we create, we echo His nature. At ACC, we encourage creativity, through our music program and visual arts. We have some very creative students on campus. In Albany we also understand that we have limited access to cultural exposure, therefore we embrace the opportunity when cultural groups come our way.

Kaboom Percussion

Our whole Primary School experienced the amazing Kaboom Percussion Group in Week 2. With their brand new show featuring an array of never-before-seen instruments, students witnessed how the simplest of objects can create extraordinary music. They loved their quirky range of instruments including a piano made from 32 tuned squeaky toys, 3D printed drums, bucket drums, and more. The show was very interactive, with students trying instruments and learning about rhythm and grooves.

Mother’s Day

Creativity was on full display in the lead up to Mother’s Day. Students glued, coloured, threaded, and baked their way into our hearts! This was especially evident in the Pre-Primary class, who hosted their own celebration filled with love and thoughtful gifts.

Cross Country

There was heated competition during the ACC Cross Country event! We were blessed with beautiful running and spectator conditions – not to be taken for granted in Albany! Kangaroos and Magpies went head-to-head on the challenging ACC track. We emphasised the value of team spirit over individual achievement, and the cheering from the sidelines certainly showed this.
