Welcome to Term 3! We hope that you had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed a well-earned rest.  While the warmth of summer holidays is great for outdoor adventure, the winter holidays tend to lend themselves to relaxation of a different kind - cosy and restorative.

Term 3 courses were published as early as possible to give families a head start, should they wish to begin before the term officially commenced. A quick reminder that the Protective Behaviours course is now open and will remain available throughout Term 4. However, Jessica Sinclair - who teaches the course - will not be available to answer course related questions until Term 4. Teachers may be able to assist with any access inquiries. Protective Behaviours course completion will contribute to the end of year Health grade.

We welcome many new families this term and trust that you will enjoy your Distance Education journey with us.  Please reach out to your teachers if you have any questions or concerns.

We also welcome Mrs Madeleine Chaine who will be teaching our Year 4 cohort until the end of the year. Mrs Susan Whiston will continue teaching the Year 3 class while enjoying a mix of part-time teaching and long service leave.

Year 6 Artwork - Exploring Personal Inspiration Through Art – End of Term 2 Highlights

As Term 2 came to a close, students were encouraged to draw inspiration from the world around them, incorporating elements of their own lives into their creative projects. Favourite foods, meaningful places, treasured objects, and beloved sports or hobbies served as rich sources of inspiration.

Throughout the unit, students explored the fundamentals of colour theory, learning about the colour wheel and how to mix primary colours (red, blue, and yellow) to create secondary and tertiary colours. They also delved into the imaginative world of surrealist artist Vladimir Kush, experimenting with dreamlike imagery in their own designs.

Project work was varied and engaging, including:

  • Creating posters to celebrate their favourite food

  • Exploring optical illusion art inspired by Bridget Riley

  • Practicing drawing techniques to represent 3D objects

  • Designing collages using iconic Australian imagery

To complete the unit, students focused on presentation skills—discovering how to display their artwork effectively. They learned about two key display methods: Themed Displays and Decorative Frames, helping them showcase their work with confidence and pride.

Enjoy reading through and viewing some of the students’ work and their explanation of how ideas are represented in artworks made and viewed, as well as their description of the influences of their artwork. Please click on each link below to see more!
