Hello to our Primary School families. We have been performing our way through the last part of Term 3. From the Primary Schools Music Festival and Tournament of the Minds, to the Math Olympiad our students have been doing themselves proud.

This fortnight, we have focused on the value of Courage, particularly the courage to speak up for what is right. I’ve spoken with our students about the importance of letting a trusted adult know if they see a friend making a poor choice. While this might be flippantly dismissed as "dobbing" by some, it's an act of genuine care and responsibility.

It reminds me of the proverb, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." (Proverbs 27:17) This timeless wisdom reminds us that true friends help each other grow. By having the courage to speak up, we aren't just protecting our school community—we are acting as a good friend, encouraging our peers to make better choices, and helping them become the best versions of themselves. We all have a part in making our family, classroom, and school a safe and kind place to be.

Primary Schools Music Festival

What a night to remember! Our incredible Primary Choir lit up the stage at the Albany Entertainment Centre for the annual Primary Schools Music Festival, delivering a performance that was nothing short of spectacular. We are bursting with pride for every single student who participated. Their commitment, talent, and passion were on full display for all to see.

Months of hard work and dedication, guided by Mr Findlay, culminated in a truly magical evening. The choir's three pieces showcased their versatility and remarkable vocal control, captivating the entire audience. They began with the powerful and enchanting traditional Irish folk song, "Dulaman," filling the AEC with a sound that took the audience across the sea. In the second half, the energy then shifted with the moving and beautiful "Agnus Dei," a challenging piece that they performed with a maturity and grace that belied their young age. Finally, they concluded with the joyful and whimsical "If I Were a Fish," a piece that had toes tapping and faces smiling throughout the crowd with a funky addition of some kazoos.

The atmosphere was electric as our students stood together, their voices a testament to their teamwork and the countless hours of rehearsal they had put in. It was a truly proud moment to see them represent our school with such confidence and skill on such a prestigious stage. Their performance was a highlight of the entire festival, earning them well-deserved applause and admiration from the entire community.

A huge, heartfelt congratulations to our amazing Primary Choir! We couldn't be more proud of your outstanding achievement. Your performance was not just about singing; it was about the joy, discipline, and unity you all shared. Thank you for giving us a night we will never forget!

Discovery at Discovery Bay

Our Year 1/2 class had a fantastic time on their recent excursion to Discovery Bay Wildlife Park and Wildflower Gardens! This trip was the perfect way to wrap up our Biological Science Unit on living things, where students have been learning all about what plants and animals need to grow and how they have offspring.

The day started with a peaceful walk through the wildflower gardens, admiring the many different native plants and their vibrant flowers. The next stop was heading into the wildlife park, and the group were immediately greeted by two very energetic wombats!

Students had so much fun finding animals hiding in their enclosures, discussing their physical features, and what they eat. They were also lucky enough to spot some adorable offspring, including wallaby and kangaroo joeys and a tiny bettong.

After this wildlife adventure, students enjoyed their lunch in the amphitheater, and then as a class, had a blast rolling down the grassy hill.

A huge thank you to all the parent and staff helpers who came along and made the day such a success!

Year 3 Mathematicians

The Year 3 students have created fraction lines in mathematics. This hands-on activity taught them to count in thirds, quarters, and eighths past the whole numbers. The curriculum states that students in Year 3 are expected to "Model and represent unit fractions including 1/2, 1/4, 1/3, 1/5 and their multiples to a complete whole” (ACMNA058).

The students were proud of their learning and had the following to say:

I found out a tenth is closer to zero than one. - Harrison

We learnt to count in quarters. - Maxon

We had to do a lot of cutting, gluing and colouring. - Ollie

Colour Run: Let's Get Our Library Ready!

Our new library is shaping up beautifully! We've set up bookshelves and chairs on the ground floor, but to make it truly amazing, we need your help.

This year's Colour Run is raising funds to purchase more bookshelves, bookends, and a big mat to create a cozy, well-stocked space for our students. Your support will also contribute to other fantastic projects happening around the school.

Fundraising Leaderboard

The competition is heating up! The class that raises the most money will win a pizza party. The current standings are:

  • Year 1 and 2: $520

  • Year 3: $428

  • Year 5: $405

The race is on, and the top individual fundraisers are Jack W in the lead, with Shaye close behind. Tom H and Ollie are quickly gaining ground, so every donation counts!

Let's work together to make our new library the best it can be. Please get behind our fundraising efforts and help us reach our goal!

In the Playground

Shout out to our amazing Year 6 leaders! Oscar, Mary, Rhianna, Georgia, Ryker, and Elijah have been making our lunchtimes even better with some awesome new initiatives.

Did you know we have a new Art Club? Two of our leaders are running this club, where students can get creative with drawing, painting, and finger knitting. Plus, you can find other leaders out on the courts, acting as fair play umpires for epic games of handball and four square. They're also our official gear guardians, making sure every class takes care of their equipment and giving a shout-out to those who are super responsible!

It's inspiring to see them take on these roles and make a difference!

The grounds are very wet this year due to heavy Winter and Spring rainfalls. While children aren’t allowed to get wet and dirty some clever possums have brought gumboots to change into at lunch to keep their feet dry but make the most of the puddles.

Run Club

We are blessed to have Chris Dorman, who has worked with the Fremantle Dockers, the Roosters and the Rabbitohs coach our ACC Run Team for some special sessions leading up to the athletics carnival season.

All runners are welcome from 7:30am on Wednesday mornings.
