Welcome Back: Important Term 4 Reminders
Welcome back for what will surely be a very short but exciting term. Teachers will be collating grades and writing final report comments in just a few weeks, and therefore, as usual, we are unable to offer extensions this term. Please help your child follow their timetable accurately to ensure all required work is completed and uploaded by the due date.
Teachers have spent time in the holidays looking at course content and adjusting timetables where necessary to make this term as manageable as possible. It is important that announcements are checked regularly to take advantage of these updates. Students will complete their end-of-year DIBELS assessment early in the term and ACER testing towards the end. Please note that students new to DE this term who took the ACER test on entry will not be required to sit it again. You will receive further information about ACER testing later in the term.
Please remember that Protective Behaviours is a compulsory course and must be completed this term, if not done in Term 3. This year it will count towards the Health grade for final reporting.
We encourage students to make the most of their learning opportunities while attending Distance Education. The teaching videos are essential to watch in order, and they often have specific activities to be completed at the conclusion. This method of teaching aligns with what is considered to be best practice and will give your child the most value when learning. Skipping these teaching videos, watching them all one after another without completing the activities, or only watching part of them will always impact a student’s final assessment and learning. We do track video viewing, so please contact teachers if you have any concerns.
A few parents have asked about contacting others for social meet-ups and/or study groups. To facilitate this, we recommend that you post a comment on the Parent and Guardian Noticeboard if you would like to organise or participate. We won’t have a social catch-up organised by the school this term, but we hope that you are able to attend our End of Year Celebration to be held at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church on December 8. More information about this will be available soon.
Term 4 finishes on Wednesday, December 10. Please make sure your child continues to log in via Takumuna every day until then. Absences may be emailed to deattendance@acc.edu.au.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to a successful Term 4 together!
Spotlight on Year 2
The Year 2 students pulled off some amazing acting and performing skills with the help of their families. The play, called "Danny and the Toybox," featured students acting as Danny, who was hiding in a toybox, and voicing his one line with varying volume, energy, and emotions as different characters came to help him.

We had students performing in actual toyboxes, big baskets, and behind blankets, sometimes with props and sometimes even with real-life pets joining the action! I am so proud of this year’s acting talent and their efforts.
Bravo! Brava! Encore!
Here are a few snapshots from the filmed submissions.
