Hello amazing DE families,
I hope this newsletter finds you all well and working hard to the end of term. Only a few short weeks and we will be enjoying our summer holidays and celebrating Christmas.
This week I want to encourage our students to make the most of their learning opportunities. I recently watched an Open Doors video clip of a family in Africa who were rebuilding their lives after attacks on their community due to their Christian faith. This family lost everything but their lives and faith in God; their resilience was truly inspiring. The children of this family had to travel a long distance in a van to reach their school and prayers for blessings and safety were said over them as they left and returned home each day.
It can be very difficult for us in our affluent society to understand how precious an education is and that effort matters. It can be tempting for any of us to look for the easiest path - to fast-forward through a video, or jump straight to the assessment without fully engaging with the lessons. But can I encourage you that the true and most valuable learning happens in the journey and the challenges? Choosing effort over ease helps us build discipline, strengthens our knowledge, and prepares us to be people God can use to make a real difference in the world.
We all face different challenges, but let’s finish this term strong by choosing to make the most of our learning opportunities. Let’s make the most of every lesson, knowing that the skills and knowledge gained today are precious gifts that you will use to bless others tomorrow.
The Bible reminds us to be intentional with our time and lives:
Ephesians 5:15-16: “Be careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity.”
