The atmosphere across the school is charged with excitement as we head into the final, busy stretch of the year. It's a period balanced between the joy of the approaching holidays and a full calendar of school events.
Right now, the Athletics Carnivals are taking centre stage. We saw the final, dedicated session of Run Club on Monday 3rd November, signaling the end of preparations for our promising runners.
On Tuesday 4th November we walked down to Collingwood Oval for the 800m races. This year every single child finished the race. I was so impressed with the perseverance and strength that the children who don't love running showed. The students cheered every child on, displaying great sportsmanship and team spirit. Later back at school the students participated in long jump, high jump and turbo javelin.
On Thursday 6th November Years 1 - 10 battled it out at the North Road Sporting Grounds. Primary School raced in the morning followed by team games in the afternoon. Great fun was had by all and I would like to extend my appreciation to the parent assistants, and the Distant Education team who ran the sausage sizzle.

Back at school the Kindergarten and Pre-Primary students had their own little event, spontaneously taking advantage of the whole grounds to themselves.

Interschool Carnival
This year ACC is hosting the ADPSSA Jumps and Throws Day on the 18th of November at St Joseph’s College, and the Track Day on the 20th of November at the North Road Sporting Grounds. Bethel Christian School handed ACC the baton after doing a great job for 3 years running. We will now host until 2028. This is the first time we have taken on the challenge of serving our wider community in this way. We are keen for volunteers in these Interschool Carnivals, so please let me know if you can help out on either of the days.

Junior Mathematicians
A group of our keen Year 5 and 6 students recently rose to the challenge of the Junior Division Olympiad (Division J). This interschool competition, which runs across Australia and New Zealand, was designed to stimulate and challenge high-potential and high-achieving students. It provided a valuable chance for them to not only compete for individual excellence but also to work together as a cohesive team, competing against 150,000 other students across Australasia. We commend all students who participated in this prestigious and well-established competition, which has been a benchmark for excellence since 1987.

Results:
Congratulations to Elijah Bresanello and Aleah Couse, who both achieved equal third place. Ryker Westthorp followed closely in second place, finishing just one point behind the winner, Summer McConnell. Both Summer and Ryker performed exceptionally well, placing in the top 40% of participants across Australia and New Zealand. We are incredibly proud of all our students for their effort, perseverance, and outstanding achievements in this challenging academic event.
Pop-Up Parliament Visit
Our Year 5 and 6 students recently enjoyed an engaging Pop-Up Parliament Incursion, where they explored how democracy works in Australia. The session provided students with an interactive and informative experience about the roles of government, how laws are made, and the importance of civic participation. Students took on various roles to reenact the process of passing a bill through both houses of Parliament, gaining a real insight into how decisions are made. They also participated in a lively Q&A session with Scott Leary, MLA for Albany, asking thoughtful questions about leadership, voting, and community representation. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of civics and citizenship in a fun and hands-on way.

Up and Coming Events
Our 2026 Kindergarten students will be having a little taster of school life in readiness for next year. I look forward to seeing all our new little faces and meeting the parents.
