As we come to the end of Faith Week, it is a beautiful time to reflect on God’s enduring love for us all. This spiritual focus also provides a moment to look back on what has been a truly wonderful term.

It has been a productive season, from establishing our classroom learning environments for the year ahead to warmly welcoming our new students and staff. Even with such a packed calendar, our community has truly shone. I was delighted to receive glowing feedback regarding our students’ exemplary behaviour at both the Primary Interschool Swimming Carnival and the Year 5 & 6 Surf Life Saving Carnival.

Furthermore, our Year 6 students recently visited Clarence Estate to share the joy of St. Patrick’s Day games with the residents. A sincere thank you to Natasha White, our Upper Primary Team Leader, for her efforts in coordinating these meaningful visits for our Year 4, 5, and 6 students.

ADPSSA Interschool Carnival

The ADPSSA Primary Interschool Swimming Carnival was a great success. Thank you to Rachel Bresanello for including Year 4’s this year and running the before and after school try outs in her own time.

We first attended this Interschool Carnival in 2025 with a fledgling team of 11. This year we took 28 keen little and bigger fish. There were many impressive performances and great sportsmanship exhibited by Team ACC.

Year 5 & 6 Surf Life Saving Carnival

The morning event was a showcase of the skills our Year 5 and 6 students have been learning this term in Physical Education. The students competed in flag races, a beach run, run-swim-run and board races.

This year was the first year we competed in our new factions: Brumbies, Eagles, Lions and Rams.

Congratulations to the Champions in their year groups:

Year 5

Daniel Bresanello and Lakita Ugle

Year 6

Summer McConnell and  Jack Warburton

Congratulations to our Runner-Up students:

Year 5

Ruben Smit and Leisel Weisheit-Lewis

Year 6

Aleah Couse and Lucas Abrahams

Eagles

Students enjoyed the Eagles Rock My School roadshow that visited ACC in Week 8. Harry talked to the whole Primary School about leadership and friendship.

The lucky Year 1, 2 and 3 classes  then had a footy clinic.  The excitement was next level, you would have thought the PM was visiting!

Winter Uniform

As we look toward Term 2, we will be transitioning into our winter uniforms. At ACC, we take great pride in our high dress standards and the emphasis we place on a neat and tidy appearance. We encourage all students to take pride in their uniform and strive for excellence in their grooming and presentation.

I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all parents and carers for your ongoing support in ensuring your children adhere to our dress requirements. We have already noticed a significant improvement across the school.

This year, we are paying particular attention to ensuring our male students are wearing the correct trousers for the winter uniform. If you are unsure of the specific requirements, please refer to the Uniform Guide here -  Uniform Guide

University of Western Australia - Lifelong Learning

This is our second year at ACC of being in partnership with UWA for the Children’s University programme. We have been allocated 30 exclusive places for students in Years 3–6 to participate in the prestigious Children’s University (CU) program. At the time of writing this we still have a few places available.

What is Children’s University?

The CU program is designed to spark a passion for lifelong learning by providing students with a "taste" of university life. It encourages children to step outside the classroom and explore their curiosities in the real world. To graduate, students must complete 30 hours of self-directed learning outside of regular school hours.

How Can Students Earn Hours?

The beauty of this program is its flexibility. Students can accumulate hours through a variety of activities:

  • Learning Destinations: Visiting "validated" locations like zoos, museums, and galleries.

  • Independent Projects: Researching a topic of interest—anything from STEM and coding to history or the arts.

  • Physical & Creative Activities: Sports and after-school hobbies can contribute to a maximum of 10 hours toward the 30 hour goal.

  • Global Community: Access to fun online activities shared with CU members from around the world.

How to Register Your Interest

Natalie Jarvis recently presented this opportunity to our students, and the level of enthusiasm was wonderful to see! Because this program requires a supportive parent to help track and verify hours, we are looking for families who are ready to dive in.

Important Next Steps

  1. Email Me: If your child is eager to participate, please email me at rachelpower@acc.edu.au to register your interest.

  2. The "First 30" Rule: Forms will be distributed to the first 30 students who express interest.

  3. We are so looking forward to seeing our students take ownership of their learning and celebrate their achievements through this wonderful initiative.

Beyond the classroom, we have truly enjoyed life at ACC this term. From dancing the Nutbush and singing together to the adventures of the Year 6 Camp, we have explored the incredible world right on our doorstep.

I pray that your families are richly blessed this Easter. May you enjoy this precious time together as we prepare for an exciting Term 2.
