Primary News

Updated: Sep 25
I love this time of the term, when we can look back and reflect on the hustle and bustle of the term. We have had a blast here at ACC with many moments of joy around the Primary school. We have ended with a bang, with a flurry of events and activities.
This newsletter, I thought I would shift things up by interviewing some students about these events, and record their recounts.
Next term we will see the No Hat No Play rule come into effect, and we will transition to our Summer uniforms. With your assistance, we have come a long way in improving the presentation of our students. Please continue to do what you do well; formal uniform on formal days and sports uniform on Tuesday and Wednesday, including the correct footwear. We are having a focus on the jewellery and hair accessory part of our uniform policy at the moment.
Before we move on to our recounts of all the fun events that have taken place, I would like to thank our community for your support and prayers for our wonderful school. We are a great community, together. Our students, with the partnership of the school and families are really, Well Known, Well Loved, and Well Taught.
Clarence Estate Choir Visit
Jearich
How was the visit?
"It was amazing, fun, and joyful."
Tyla
Why did the choir visit Clarence Estate?
"Mrs Cooper said we were performing lots of songs and were ready for an audience. Mrs Cooper said we did an excellent job of singing, with good posture, smiling eyes and did really well on playing games."
Charlotte
What did you learn from the elderly people at Clarence?
"Don’t judge people just because of how they look."
Do you think they enjoyed the music?
"There was a woman crying with a smile on her face for Hakuna Matata, and when Tyla did the splits she was amazed. I learnt that our songs were beautiful because the audience showed joy and our songs had joy."
Shaye
Why is going to visit Clarence Estate important for our students?
"When we went to Clarence Estate, I think we were doing nice things for elderly people. I think our students need to learn to respect elderly people. It makes us feel good to help people in the community."
All
Can you tell everyone why being part of the ACC Choir is great?
Shaye - "You can have fun singing and visit Clarence Estate."
Tyla - "You can make your voices high and strong."
Charlotte - "We get to sing lots of songs and visit different places and have fun."
Jearich - "You get to make people smile and happy."

Dockers Cup
Layla Noakes recounted the Docker’s cup event for our community:
"The Docker’s Cup was a football game against other schools in Albany.
We took 13 girls from Year 5 and Year 6 class. Mrs White and Mrs Lourens took us to North Road Football fields to play 9 games in one day. They were 15 minute games and we played well considering everyone else had more players then us and were all football players. We got to see other players from other schools, my old friends from St Joes. I did some great tackles, and Summer and Kira had good kicks and the rest had great attitudes. Aleah loved tackling and was good at it.
I think it is important for ACC to attend these events as we could try other sports and see if we like it. It is important for us to show we are here because we are only a small school. Even though we are a small school we do really well when we compete in Albany.
I would like to go again next year."

Fire Fire Fire
Our Year 2 and 3 students had a fantastic visit from the Albany Fire Department! The firefighters taught the children how to spot potential hazards around the home and practiced the essential safety rule: "Get low and go, go, go!" to safely escape a smoky room. The highlight of the day was an interactive tour of the fire engines, where students discovered all the impressive equipment on board and even got a turn using the fire hose to squirt water. Natasha Evans said: “It was really exciting to see them here.”

Teddy Bears Picnic
This recount was written by the Pre-Primary students:
"On Wednesday, Kindys, Pre-Primary students and families were in the playground having a teddy bears picnic.
It was sunny and it was a lovely day. To get ready for our picnic, we picked peas that we grew and we also made sweet honey joys and Kindys made a dip.
The parents brought fruit and we brought our teddy bears. The teachers set up the picnic.
Ezra brought Minnie, a pink and purple bear, Mae brought along Issy who is a leopard/rhinoceros, Jade brought a kitten called Garfield. Ella brought an elephant-seal called Sticky, Gemma brought a teddy bear named Rosalina, William brought a panda called Panda, Poppy brought Bob the teddy, Chizurum brought a teddy called Wirrotah, Stan has a teddy called Crocy and David has a white teddy called Teddybear.
It was a fun day."

Save the Date: 2027 Year 7 Orientation Day!
We are excited to announce that our 2027 Year 7 Orientation Day will take place on Thursday, 12th November 2026.
The move to high school is a significant milestone, and our chief focus on this day is to ensure our upcoming Year 6 students feel fully supported, confident, and excited about the journey ahead. Through engaging taster lessons, and meeting some of their future teachers and peers, Orientation Day is designed to alleviate any nervous butterflies and give students a smooth, reassuring transition into high school life.
We warmly invite all our current Year 6 families to mark this date in their calendars. We also extend a warm welcome to new families considering joining our College community for 2027—this is a wonderful opportunity to experience firsthand the supportive and vibrant environment we offer.
Further details, along with the full information pack, will be shared with families closer to the date.
