At ACC Southlands, we are committed to fostering a positive culture that reflects our C.H.R.I.S.T. values: Courage, Humility, Respect, Initiative, Self-Control, and Trust. These values guide our students in both their rights and responsibilities within the college community.

As we continue to reinforce these values in our daily interactions, I encourage families to have conversations at home about how these principles shape our students’ character and choices.

NAPLAN Preparation

Our students are currently in the middle of their first assessments for the year, with NAPLAN fast approaching. This week, our Year 7s and 9s completed their NAPLAN practice tests, helping them familiarise themselves with the platform and expectations. To ensure a smooth testing experience, we kindly ask students to:

  • Charge their devices each night before the test.

  • Use plug-and-play headsets (recommended for optimal performance).

  • Ensure they have downloaded the latest 2025 NAPLAN application before testing day.

The first NAPLAN test (Writing) will officially begin on Wednesday, 12th March.

Your support in reinforcing these preparations at home is greatly appreciated.

Cooking Classes

We are excited to introduce Cooking as a new subject at ACC Southlands! Led by our passionate teacher, Miss Ebonee Van Burgel, students are developing essential life skills while fostering creativity and teamwork in the kitchen. Online Safety & Awareness

In an increasingly digital world, it is essential that we work together to educate and guide students on safe online behaviour. At ACC Southlands, we have:

  • A Cybernet filtering system that flags inappropriate internet use.

  • A proactive approach to addressing attempts to bypass filters.

While these measures are in place, true online safety requires a partnership between school and home. Our goal is to help students develop self-discipline and responsibility in their digital interactions, minimising distractions and fostering a safe online environment.

We encourage families to continue these conversations at home. A great resource with conversation starters can be found here: 🔗 eSafety Parent Guide

Together, we can help our students make wise and responsible choices online.

Parent Portal

A reminder that our Parent Portal is a valuable resource for staying up to date with key information and school resources. You can access it here: 🔗 Parent Portal

As we move through the term, it is encouraging to see our students embracing new learning opportunities, taking ownership of their responsibilities, and growing in maturity. Whether through academic challenges like NAPLAN, the creativity fostered in our new cooking classes, or our shared commitment to a safe and respectful online environment, we are making great strides in building a strong and values-driven community.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership. Your support in reinforcing these principles at home makes a significant difference. We look forward to seeing our students flourish in all aspects of school life.
