What an amazingly fun, busy and productive term we have had here in DE. We welcomed many new students to our school as they learnt how to navigate their way through DE, our Year Seven and Nine students mastered NAPLAN, and we had our first ever Year 7 and 8 Distance Education Camp in Busselton. So much happened this term, and it flew past, just like that!!
Our Year 7 and 8 Camp would be the highlight of the term, for me. Having the opportunity to meet students and their families was amazing, putting faces to names of those I have only met online. Students made new friends, learnt the cup song (which challenged the best of us), embraced their nerves and practiced grounding themselves in some theatrical experiences, played mini golf, mastered the Yallingup Maze, built sand castles, swam, played basketball AND ate deliciously tasty food, lovingly prepared by Mrs Morton and Mrs Geddes, which kept us all well nourished. Not only do I want to say a huge thank you to our lovely chefs, but also to Mrs Smith, Mr Hunt, Mr Ramsay, Mrs Rosair, Mrs Caruso, and Mr and Mrs Oaklands who all gave their time to make this camp a wonderful experience for us all. Please enjoy a selection of camp photos - click the below photo to access a slideshow!
Next term we welcome the Year 9 and 10 cohort to Busselton for their camp. I really look forward to meeting you all. Information has been sent out, so get in quick!
Now, we prepare to celebrate our holidays, and take time to chill out, and enjoy spending time with our families, pets and friends. Remember, our Year 12s may still be doing some assignments in these holidays. Their year is going to be over in the blink of an eye, as they transition from school kids to young adults. Keep them in your prayers, as they hit nearly the halfway mark of their school year.
And finally, as we celebrate our holidays, let’s not get caught up in chocolate eggs, bilbies and bunnies. Let’s focus on the GOOD NEWS of Jesus - God’s love poured out for all of us. Nothing can separate us from God’s love, when we put our trust completely in the sacrifice Jesus made - and that’s why we celebrate Easter.
“For God so loved the world that he gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
