Hello Secondary DE Community, and welcome back to Term 2!

I feel like it was only yesterday we were at Whiteman Park enjoying our Amazing Race together, but no, it was over three weeks ago. Before those memories of that fun-filled day slip away, I would like to say a HUGE thank you to our brilliant DE Staff who made the day possible. It was months of planning, organising, printing, sorting, and finally setting up, which made the day a success. It was wonderful to see our students learn to limbo, create human pyramids, walk with flair and grace (whilst keeping books carefully balanced on their heads), and just running around, getting to know each other all whilst smiling, laughing and enjoying each other’s company. We have an amazing community here in DE. I personally am so thankful for the dedicated, caring and committed staff that I have the privilege of working with every day. Thank you everyone for a successful, and fun-filled day!

I pray everyone had a restful holiday and that you are ready to commence Term 2 revitalised and ready to go. We already have a very busy term ahead, so get ready to hit the ground running. Week 3 we see our Year 9 and 10 DE students venture off to camp in Busselton. All the information is in Takamuna and the Parent and Guardian Notice Board. Don’t forget in the Parent and Guardian Notice Board there is a Car Pooling Discussion page to help people minimise the amount of travel to get students to and from camp.

Coming up in Year 10 Pastoral Care time, students will start exploring their options for their education, and opportunities available to them in the future. Thank you to Mr Youngman and the Year 10 PC Teachers who will be supporting the students as they start their Learning Journey.

And, whilst talking about opportunities in the future, I would like to bring to your attention the Year 12 cohort. As we commence what most of us perceive to still be the beginning of the year, I would like to remind us that this group of students are nearly half way through their school year. In the next couple of weeks they commence their mid year assessments. I ask that you please keep the Year 12s in your prayers. It is a significant time to be in your final year of schooling; the sense of something ending, and a new adventure ahead can be quite daunting. Please pray for each of our 12s that they remain calm in the knowledge that God’s plan for them is perfect, and that they have peace and clarity, as they start looking ahead at their life outside of school.
