A Term of Community, Growth, and New Things

As we reach the end of a busy Term 3, it is timely to reflect on the incredible sense of community and the many achievements of our students and staff. Our final assembly of the term served as a culmination of our shared journey, with the theme captured in the words of Isaiah 43:18-19: "Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."

Celebrating Our Students and Community

This term has been a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our community. We were proud to host Excelencia Live on our campus and streamed to other ACC schools across Australia. A huge thank you to our student hosts, Zoe Downing and Erin Mitchell, our roving reporter, Matilda Fairley, and our student media team, Jacob Greenwood, Lily Bodlovic, and Reuben Vanderwal. Their hard work and professionalism made the event a great success. We are also grateful for the contributions and support from Mrs Kelly Sephton, Mrs Dianne Downing, Mr Graham Downing, and Mr Michael Poole.

We also want to thank the many students who were involved with the catering and serving of meals and beverages when we hosted the Principals’ Summit on campus. Our appreciation goes to the catering team, Miss Ebonee Van Burgel, Mrs Elzean Lourens, and Mrs Christina Woonings, for their hard work and dedication.

This term also saw the conclusion of many hard-fought extra-curricular activities:

Our Volleyball teams participated in the Y9/10 Volleyball WA High Schools Cup up in Perth and also performed well in the local competition, where they were knocked out in the semi-finals. A special shout-out to Mr Joseph Ellis for his dedicated coaching and support of the team.

Our Chess team came second in the Great Southern Secondary Chess Tournament after a final tiebreaker. Congratulations to the college representatives: Evan Hancock, Noah Sephton, Reuben Vanderwal, Atticus Morris, Jacob Greenwood, Zoe Downing, Alexander James, Gabriella Martin, and Georgia Power. We extend our thanks to Mr Luke Wiseman and Mrs Sharon Morton for their commitment to supporting our chess players.

Congratulations to the students who participated in the Associated & Catholic Colleges of WA Athletics Carnival at the State Athletics Stadium in Perth. We want to acknowledge the hard work and persistence of all participants and especially celebrate the following students for their achievements. We are also grateful to Mrs Aneen Lamble, Mr Luke Wiseman, and Mr Jason Bresanello for their incredible support in making the event a success.

  • Eloise Braidwood, who came in first place in the Girls Under 14 High Jump.

  • Stanley Cowles, who took first place in the Boys Under 14 Javelin Throw.

  • Jesiah Bresanello, who took second place in the Boys Under 19 1500 Run.

  • Ryan Parker, who came in second in the Boys Under 19 High Jump.

  • Billy Abrahams, Arthur Bliss, and Jax Auty, who all placed third in their respective events.

The ACC Soccer teams had a great season. We extend our thanks to all the volunteers, parents, team managers, and coaches for their dedication. We would also like to recognize our Albany Country Week Representatives: Billy Ugle, Xavier Small, Shelby Burns, Oliver Burns, Ava Mexsom, Melody Pirga, and Georgia Power. We appreciate Mr Joseph Ellis for his leadership of the soccer program.

We also want to thank the ACC Concert Band for their special performance during the assembly. Our thanks go to Mrs Tammy Goetz, Mr Joseph Ellis, and Mr Peter Findlay for their wonderful guidance and leadership of the band.

Looking Ahead to Term 4
