Dear Secondary Students, Parents, and Caregivers,

As we progress through this final term, we are focusing on the significance of the Christmas season approaching. Jesus is the reason for the season, and we continue to emphasise the hope He brings, encouraging our students to look forward with optimism and purpose. This was captured by the message from our last assembly in Term 3:

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” – Isaiah 43:18-19

This is truly a season dedicated to embracing the new things God is doing in the lives of our students.

Celebrating Our Seniors and Looking Ahead

With the completion of Legacy Week this past week, our graduating ATAR students are now preparing for their final farewells and final exam.

  • Year 12 ATAR Transition: All Year 12 ATAR students will attend their final formal lessons between now (Friday, Week 1) and next Wednesday (Week 2), concluding their in-class schooling.

  • Year 12 Graduation Events (Next Week - Week 2): Next week marks the culmination of their journey. We encourage our community to pause and celebrate our seniors:

    • Monday 20th October: Year 12 Graduation Lunch (a special event run by the Year 9 & 10 students).

    • Thursday 23rd October: Year 12 Graduation Assembly and Dinner, a capstone event to honour their achievements.

Community in Action

  • Colour Run (Tuesday 21st October): Get ready for some fun! The highly anticipated Colour Run will take place for secondary students during Period 4. Students are reminded to bring a spare set of clothes to change into as the  the coloured powder used in this event can stain clothing.

  • RAC Road Smart (Wednesday 22nd October): This crucial safety session for our Year 10-11 students will focus on critical road safety awareness as they move towards gaining driving independence.

  • Scholastic Book Fair: The Book Fair started this Friday and will end next Tuesday, so please encourage students to explore the great range of new reading materials available to support our college library.

Academic and Sporting Opportunities

  • UWA Sustainability Symposium (Friday 31st October): Our Year 6-9 students will participate in the Albany Harbours Sustainability Symposium run by UWA. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage with real-world issues and advanced research.

  • ACC Athletics Carnivals (Tuesday & Thursday 4th & 6th November): Our students will be competing in the final intra-house athletics events for the year:

    • Tuesday: ACC Jumps & Throws at North Albany Football Oval

    • Thursday: ACC School Athletics Carnival at North Road Athletics Oval

Important Reminders

  • Summer Uniform Transition: We have officially transitioned to our Summer uniform for Term 4. Please ensure your child is wearing the correct Summer uniform with pride.

  • Mobile Phone: A reminder that mobile phones must be checked in at the front office at the start of the school day.

  • Digital Citizenship: To help students stay focused in class and maximise their study engagement, parents are encouraged to set control restrictions and time limits for apps and websites. For guidance on setting time limits on Mac, refer to the Apple support article: Set time limits for apps and websites in Screen Time on Mac.

Thank you for your partnership as we begin this final term. I look forward to connecting with many of you at the upcoming events this term. Have a wonderful weekend!
